Centrifuge Bar

The Centrifuge bar, designed by Paul Steelman and Associates, is housed in a large dome space; the centrepiece of which is a 67’ high moving kinetic structure. Thinkwell Studio Montréal created video and images that are projected from three angles onto the sculpture’s translucent membranes as it rotates 360-degrees.

Partner credits include: creation of costumes by Liz Vandal, photo and video shoot by Nicolas Ruel, manipulation of imagery by Robert Massicotte.

Shibuya at the MGM Grand Hotel

For MGM Grand Hotel’s Japanese restaurant, Shibuya, Thinkwell Studio Montréal used elements from the decor to produce two 35 minute videos and also created an integrated video display system for the space.

The main wall behind the sushi bar is made of hundreds of plexiglass tubes, some clear and others with a mirrored surface. Several screens were installed behind these modules, which allowed the team to play with opacity and display imagery of an underwater world with elements of the restaurant’s decor across the engaging wall. The effect is that the walls of Shibuya tell a story while subtly highlighting the amazing design work of Pushelberg.

Liquidity Bar

The focal point of the bar experience at Liquidity is a cascade of 3D animated graphics objects and letters projected onto a towering waterfall. Thinkwell Studio Montréal is proud to have collaborated with Japanese designers Super Potato, on the design of this cocktail lounge at the Luxor Hotel.

Eycandy Bar & Lounge

Thinkwell Studio Montréal designed and programmed interactive tables, sound stations, and a reactive dance floor for Eyecandy Bar & Lounge in Las Vegas. In the main lounge area, multi-touch tables allow guests to control cameras around the lounge and create visuals that send messages to adjacent interactive tables located in pods throughout the venue.

The Sound Lounge, located next to Eyecandy’s dance floor, offers three sound stations that allow guests and DJs to collaborate on the night’s music. In addition, the reactive dancefloor offers three layers of imagery that change according to the movement and dancing of guests.

Bar Aurora MGM Grand Hotel

Thinkwell Studio Montréal created an aerial installation inspired by the movement and colors of the northern lights for the lobby of MGM Grand’s Aurora bar. The project was created and conceived in collaboration with Super Potato Design

The impressive 30 feet long crystalline structure comes alive through the broadcasting of a rich palette of 16 million hues within the suspended structure. The more than 600 stalactites of this transparent sculpture are frosted in various places, diffusing the light that comes from the video to LED conversion randomly, creating the feeling of the Aurora northern lights.

Tabú Ultra Lounge: MGM Grand Hotel

Thinkwell Studio Montréal integrated fashion, beauty, and interactivity to enhance the guest experience inside Tabú Ultra Lounge at the MGM Grand Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas. This included the creation and development of a wide range of fashion and beauty visuals that are projected onto surfaces and walls with morphing effects throughout the space.

With the help of a thermal detection system, the projected visuals ‘interact’ with guests as they walk by, set their drinks down, or even as they dance on the tabletops. Tabú set the standard for what would become a staple of the hospitality industry in Las Vegas and has been recognized with a variety of awards since its inception.

Bar Rouge at MGM Grand

Thinkwell Studio Montréal designed and developed the multimedia experience for the MGM Grand Hotel and Casino’s Bar Rouge in Las Vegas. Inspired by the theme of ‘message in a bottle,’ the team imagined a slideshow of dreamy moving images that could be displayed and changed inside 120 laser cut glass bottles.

To implement this idea, the glass bottles were inserted in a metal wall and display independent video capsules via hidden monitors. This award-winning design incorporates dazzling visual imagery with contrasting colors and textures, with all elements combined through intricate video integration and hidden effects that create a truly unique atmosphere and unexpected guest experience.

The D Hotel

Thinkwell Studio Montréal was asked to design a modern visual look with retro “Vintage Vegas” accents evoking the centennial history of Las Vegas for a renovation. The team provided concept development, technical and interactive design, lighting design, media integration & development and more for this major renovation.  The transformation of the old Fitzgerald’s Casino & Hotel into what is now The D Las Vegas coincided with the changes of Downtown Las Vegas transforming into a major tourist destination, which also triggered several other major hotel renovations.

Centrally located in the busy Fremont Street Experience, The D Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas now has a vibrant, contemporary vibe. Its moniker – The D – pays tribute to its location in the downtown scene as well as representing the Detroit roots of its owners.
