The Themed Entertainment Association’s annual Weekend of Events, comprising the 2-day business Summit (April 4-5) and Thea Awards Gala presented by AECOM (April 6), is just around the corner. As last year, the events will unfold at the Disneyland Resort in Anaheim. The 2013 Thea honorees include several at Disney California & Hawaii properties, but Universal Studios projects on 2 continents also came in for recognition along with numerous others not tied to the big operators, in Asia, Europe and Canada.
Warner Bros. Studio Tour – The Making of Harry Potter, London is one of the Thea Award recipients, and prior to the awards gala April 6, the project will be showcased at Thea Case Studies Day April 5 (day 2 of the Summit) by Sarah Roots of Warner Bros. and Craig Hanna of Thinkwell Group. Case Studies Day is open to a broad industry audience, including students, some of whom receive registration scholarships via TEA’s NextGen initiative.
TEA Summit Executive Master Class, April 4, is more exclusive in nature. This limited-seating ticketed event covers a variety of issues relevant to doing business in today’s attractions market, and featured speakers include Frank Stanek and Marty Sklar. The ins and outs of creating quality, authentic branded attractions will be discussed in a panel moderated by Thinkwell Group’s Dave Cobb, including speakers Susan Bonds of 42 Entertainment, John Paul Geurts of Nickelodeon and Kevin Kiniry of DC Entertainment.
The TEA Summit co-chairs are Roberta Perry of ETI and Pat MacKay of Ones&ZerosMedia. The Thea Awards Gala is produced by Patrick Roberge. Tickets for all events are available at the TEA Box Office.
